Kuala Lumpur and my Endless, Profound, Love Affair with Southeast Asia

I had a hard time getting to Malaysia – delayed/cancelled flights throughout Australia were to blame (Tiger Airways stole a few years of my life). I was also nervous to explore Kuala Lumpur on my own. However after finally getting there and examining, walking around, and exploring - all that fear subsided and I felt at home. Southeast Asian countries have been very good to me and no matter how different they all are, I feel at ease and comfortable in each of them. I love the vibes, culture, attitude, history, food, everything.

I was so enthralled with Kuala Lumpur I almost missed my flight to India – literally. I showed up to the airport 40 minutes before my international flight. I felt like I was spiritually regressing because I whipped out the waterworks and talk of the fear of being stuck in a foreign country alone in order to get my way. And with a great amount of tears and persistence I did get my way and was escorted through immigration, security, and my gate and onto the runway to make my flight to Delhi. I felt bad but I had to meet my friend in India and had no way of getting ahold of her!

I made sure to be extremely positive and help-out anyone in my path to ensure I had enough good Karma to exempt my bad behavior. :)

I hear the ticking of the clock, I’m lying here the rooms pitch dark

Although I have stayed with Katie in Bali and Abby in Melbourne, my in-between travels have been on my own. I love this time I have to myself in foreign countries. My mind runs rampant and I endlessly reflect, question, philosophize various topics and in turn provide you fine people with some writing material. I like to write about the places I go, but I also like to write more than a review and it is this time alone that allows me to truly analyze the culture and liken it to my own.

“I’m Dancing with Myself, Dancing with Myself, Well there’s nothing to loose and there’s nothing to prove, And I’ll be Dancing with Myself … If I had the chance, I’d ask the World to Dance and I’d be Dancing with Myself, I’ll be Dancing with Myself”

I Need to Have My Own Menagerie

I don’t think I could ever get sick of visiting Zoos, Aquariums, Wildlife Parks, etc. No matter what city I am in, I will surely make my way to one of the above. While in Cairns, I had to visit the Wildlife Dome. I even set my alarm when I was relaxing by the pool to make sure I was there during feeding time. I got to pet a Koala!! Ahh, it was AMAZING.

And then in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - I found an animal park. It was fabulous and like most of the Asian Animal Parks I have been to, very interactive.

Enjoy some photos below!
